Q&A WITH LINDA, PATTERNS PLUS
I would like to introduce you our brilliant pattern maker Linda Rogers. I have had the pleasure of working and creating with Linda throughout our careers. She is an extension of our VDK family and is the one who brings our designs into reality. A hands on creative with the biggest heart, we touched base with Linda to discuss her career highlights and her advice to those wanting to make a start in the fashion industry.

Tell us more about yourself and what you do?
I am a Melbourne based freelance pattern maker and have had my own business Patterns Plus for almost 20 years.  Creating prototype patterns on professional pattern card for designers and start-ups takes up the bulk of my time.  I also consult for start-ups and enjoy brainstorming with designers - being happy to share the wealth of my knowledge in the fashion industry.  Finally, I do pattern grading for complete size ranges.

RMIT

Pattern making is the engineering of the fashion industry, what do you love most
about what you do and create?
I love being an integral part of my clients' label, and seeing images of these creations online, and in look books.  I also love that every day is different to the last in what I create, and that I have fun bringing sketches to life by way of a flat pattern.
