Hello Darling Bride,
First things first. take a deep breath. The dress of your dreams is here, and she’s just as ready for the big day as you are. This guide is your gentle companion to keeping her pristine from first fitting to final dance. From prep tips to dressing-day tricks and post-wedding care, consider this your bridal cheat sheet. Because looking effortlessly flawless does take a little effort, but we’ve made it easy for you.
BEFORE THE BIG DAY
Let her breathe: Keep your gown hanging or laying flat in her garment bag, no direct sunlight, please.
Steam dreams: Veils love a good steam. Pro tip: pop a pillow behind the veil so the steam reflects back through the tulle.
Silk 101: Your bodice likely won’t need pressing, but the skirt may want a little refresh near the hem after being stored. We’ll include a swatch of your silk to test your iron first (on silk setting, naturally).
Avoid steamers — they tend to spit water, and water stains are not your friend.
DRESSING TIME
Create a clean zone: Lay a clean white bed sheet on the floor to step into your dress post-hair-and-makeup, of course.
Clean hands only: Whoever is helping you into your dress needs freshly washed hands Especially important when lacing corsets or zipping up - we recommend huggies (see below).
Zipper check: We usually design zips long enough for a graceful step-in, but if anything feels snug, let us know (though we’re sure Tash triple-checked this with you!).
YOUR WEDDING DAY SURVIVAL KIT
• Fragrance-free baby wipes (Huggies FTW): For makeup marks or minor spills, dab, don’t scrub. Do not add any heat, it sets stains!
• Lint roller: A lifesaver for sneaky dust or fluff.
• Bed sheet (again): Have one on hand at the venue too, just in case you need to re-dress or make a grand re-entry.
AFTER THE “I DOs”
Stain patrol: If your dress ends up with a few battle scars, don’t wait. The sooner you dry clean, the better. We recommend William & Amanda at Brown Gouge (Carlton). They’re magic.
If you opt to go elsewhere, please be aware that our garments must be cleaned using only a traditional dry cleaning solvent. Please advise your dry cleaner not to use water-based or professional wet-cleaning methods, as these permanently damage the silk dupion fabric. Some Eco Friendly or environmentally friendly cleaners use water based solvents, which will damage our silk dupion.
